Legacy Leaders Radio was all about redemption today, with guest host Karon Cook and John Barrow of Better Way Ministries. Better Way Ministries is a place of refuge for men with drug and alcohol addictions and other life controlling issues.

John Barrow spoke about his journey from a troubled youth to a blessed life helping young people become productive citizens. In his book, appropriately named A Better Way, John tells his story.

John says that one of the loneliest, most painful places a man can find himself is in a cold and dark prison cell. Young boys dream of growing up to be policemen, firemen, cowboys—anything but convicts or inmates. But, because some of us could not stay within the boundaries, we found ourselves in too deep.

    Terri Dewberry says:

My 24 year old son Jordan became addicted to pills first around two years ago and then actually became a hard core heroin addict. As a single mother, I lost everything, my good job as a RN, my home, my car, and I attempted suicide in Dec. 2013, but God had bigger plans for me. HE made it possible for my son to go to A Better Way Ministries and that is where he is today, he has been there for 4 months and has 14 months left till he graduates the program. I love John Barrow and what he has done for so many young men that are lost and have no where to go for redemption. I have a good job now, am trying to rebuild my life and live for God. It’s hard, and I miss my youngest son, but, I love MY LORD and I am so blessed that through John’s ministry, A Better Way, my son has a second chance. He went into this ministry kicking and screaming, did NOT want to go, but I used tough love for the first time in my son’s life and gave him the choice of going to A Better Way or jail for stealing from me and his other family members. My life is not perfect by any means, but, God has saved my son’s life and I hope and pray he stays at A Better Way and helps others when he graduates in 14 more months. John Barrow is a wonderful man, if not for his ministry, my son would have died, killed someone else, or ended up in prison. On June 9, 2014, while my boy was beginning his journey at ABW, his girlfriend of two years was found dead of a drug overdose. He took it hard, but much better than expected. Had he been out on the street, he would probably have died also. SO, thank God for John Barrow and A Better Way Ministries. Amen, and thank you. Terri Dewberry
